Swirls of blue and pink and purple…
Travels to foreign lands where open dialogue is replaced by pride.
See sisters caught in tradition where bravery is needed to survive, and
How allies there, become strangers here.
Caught in the streets hoping to get by,
but finding that too many are doing just the same, and
There is no room for more.
Dimly lit party in low slung exotic rooms,
All the players filtering in and out,
Unfazed by the part they came to play.
There’s a screen door where I look out, then in.
There had only been a hint of a goodbye between us,
Knowing, sad, resigned.
In our glances, understanding that we were where we were meant to be.
We had each brought ourselves here,
By our thoughts, and through our actions,
Good and bad, but…
How I miss the wonder of the girl in blue, pink , and purple.
